During the time I have been under the care of Rhys, I have experienced substantial relief from lower back and rotator cuff pain. Rhys has wonderful empathy with me, monitors my progress, and offers recommendations for at-home exercises. His studio is quiet, subdued and very condusive to a relaxing and meditative experience." What to expect during your massage

At your first appointment, you will be greeted and asked to fill out a confidential health intake. After completing the intake, you will be asked questions regarding your health as well as goals of your visit which may include relaxation, stress reduction, relief from a tension headache or aid in healing an injury.

The therapist may examine posture, test range of motion and palpate a tight muscle during the interview. The therapist will then give directions regarding the massage table and exit the office giving you privacy to undress to your level of comfort and lie between the sheets on the table. Some people prefer to wear undergarments during an appointment while others go naked. At all times modesty is observed.

The therapist waits outside approximately three to five minutes and knocks to get permission to enter the room. As they enter, the therapist will ask if you are comfortable and play relaxing music unless silence is requested. The therapist will drape the body part being massaged and will use cream or oil to help lubricate the skin.

Massage appointments typically last one hour or an hour and a half. During the appointment, the therapist may ask you about pressure being too light or too hard and if you are too hot or too cold. Silence is usually observed unless you have a question for the therapist.

At the end of a session, the therapist leaves the room and will have you get dressed and open the office door when you are ready. When the therapist returns, you may have questions or feedback and the therapist may suggest useful stretches you can do at home. The therapist will offer you water and at this time you can settle your bill and schedule another appointment if necessary.
